Happy New Year! In anticipation of Sunday’s Newsletter (welcoming back the annual Tender Forms Beauty Index), I wanted to share a brand new addition to my Substack publication: the Tender Forms Subscriber Chat!
I’ve wanted something like Discord without adding another platform, website, subscription, etc. Thus, I am so thankful Substack added this latest chat feature to the app. This space will be exclusively for you, my dearest subscriber, to chat about anything. See below for how to set it up on your phone.
Essentially, I’ll be creating threads as we go, and all you have to do is tap on the thread to join in on the conversation. The chat also allows you to drop links and images, so hello to easily sharing swatches, wishlist items, and live “tweeting” (read: Substack chatting) films and tv soon! Some will be titled the newsletter (as you’ll see with upcoming Newsletter 096), and others will be a range of topics (I’ve already started adding a few).
To join the chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app (available for iOS and Android). A heads up on two things: chats are sent via the app, not email, so turn on push notifications if you want to chat in real-time. Also, the chat is currently only available through the app (phone only, no web).
How to Get Started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It’s the two chat bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside (along with any other Substacks you’re subscribed to that have this feature turned on).
That’s it! I hope to see you there, and if you have any issues, please check out Substack’s FAQ.
In the meantime, if you haven’t already, please subscribe to the newsletter!
Thank you, and see you Sunday!

P.S. I hope you enjoyed this photo of Fang (San Mai is somewhere deep in the chair, snuggled up next to him).
