074. Daily Skincare: An Earthwise Beauty Routine
A new YouTube demo video and all the thrillers I’ve watched recently.
Hi, I’m Maggie, and welcome to Tender Forms Off-Camera: a weekly newsletter on all things slow: beauty, fashion, living. Links in this newsletter may include affiliate links or discount referrals. If you enjoy and would like to support this newsletter, click the button below or shop through my links! No pressure but thank you if you do.
I am beyond thrilled to finally share with you a new YouTube video! And it is an update on my daily skincare routine. I last wrote about building an Earthwise Beauty routine back in Newsletter 062 (wow, time flies). This video will have everything you want to know and a chance to see the products in action.
I also tried something new this time. There is no voiceover (talking), but I created YouTube closed captioning/subtitles! I wanted to give you the option of enjoying just image and sound or turning on subtitles for context and thoughts on the items. Please let me know what you think of this format! Do you like the option of subtitles, or do you prefer talking? Perhaps both?
Without further ado, I hope you enjoy it!
I’m also sharing some extra information below that I couldn’t fit into the subtitles.

Three Roses* (gifted, $74, 100ml | 3.4floz)
I am simply blown away by this mist. It has an abundance of ingredients that my skin loves. Starting with a beautiful high percentage of aloe leaf juice that’s become synonymous with EWB. It is known for its reparative, cooling, and antimicrobial properties. There’s also colloidal silver to cool and improve circulation, the powerful antioxidant resveratrol, and ferulic acid, another antioxidant that delivers an extra layer of UV protection. And that’s just some of the key ingredients! I haven’t even mentioned the scent yet. I’m typically not a rose fan apart from a select few, but this one is sensational. EWB describes the scent as a “rose still damp from the morning dew,” which is spot on. Picture the morning sun peeking over the horizon. Everyone is still asleep, but a rose wakens in the shade of dawn, morning dew sitting on its petals and stem.
Ambrosia do Cerrado ($70, 50ml | 1.7floz)
This is already my second full-sized bottle. When it was emptied, I found I couldn’t live without it, especially in the warmer months. Even now, as we transition into cooler weather, I still love it as much as day one. This one is perfect for those who seek a lighter moisturizer that doesn’t leave the face feeling tacky or oily. It has such a delightfully uplifting scent. The stunning blend of fruit oils gives it a scent similar to passion fruit, and it’s essential-oil-free! While a gorgeously bright golden yellow hue, be cautious when near lighter clothing or sheets.
Rosa* (gifted, $48, 30ml | 1floz)
There’s not much more to say about Rosa aside from the fact that it’s one of my all-time favorite facial oils. Deceivingly simple in its ingredient list, with the star being the whole-fruit rosehip oil. This is the only rosehip oil that my sensitive, acne-prone skin can use. It’s a great multitasker, plays well with everything, and is the consistent frontrunner in the brightening area. As with Ambrosia, this has an even deeper, red-orange hue. It will definitely stain clothing and sheets. However, the rich hue makes it perfect for mixing with Earthwise Beauty’s Farizad’s Veil Sun Reflector!
Passion Eye Serum ($36, 5ml | .17floz)
I have found my holy-grail eye oil. It is this one. It’s almost impossible to find an eye oil that works for both mornings and evenings since you need it to act differently for both. And yet, Passion Eye Serum strikes that impossible balance. Also, a little, and I mean little, goes a long way. One drop is too much for me, so I use the rest on the corners of my mouth and my neck. I will never be without this eye oil. Oh, and did I mention that my under-eye wrinkles have noticeably lessened?
Paloma of the High Desert* (gifted, $90, 100ml | 3.4floz)
I love oil cleansers. I used to think that I preferred ones that rinse clean on their own until I realized that my heart just tends to vacillate between the two types. Paloma is the luscious type that requires cloth removal, and I don’t mind it one bit. The scent is also incredibly unique. It’s savory to my nose in the best way though there’s a brighter note mixed in that lifts it. It’s aptly named a “ritual cleansing oil” because I find it makes any activity into a ritual. I’ve used it during my weekly facial gua sha routine, and the slip it provides is beautiful for a deeper cleanse and massage. I have also used it as a body oil, and it is divine. I have even tried it as a facial oil though I am pretty tied to Ambrosia and Rosa, so I prefer those. But it makes my heart sing knowing it’s a great multitasker.
Marshmallow Face Cleanser* (gifted, $64, 100ml | 3.4floz)
This is now my favorite second cleanse of all time. I cannot believe it has taken me this long to try this very beloved cleanser. Now I understand! It’s simply magical. This is what all second cleanses, or foaming cleansers should be like. Unlike the foaming cleansers that may create a beautifully light fluffy cloud but then strip your skin until it cracks, this one foams in a way I’ve never experienced. It lathers into a cushiony and substantial foam. On the skin, it’s pillowy and feels instantly hydrating! It has a faint and delicately sweet scent that dissipates quickly. It feels so nourishing on the skin, and once again, a little goes a long way. I only use two pumps max creating maybe a nickel-sized amount? And that’s plenty. I’ve used this every evening for four months and have just hit the middle point of the bottle, if I had to guess!
I wanted to do horror month again but couldn’t pull everything together in time. (However, the rest of October’s newsletters will feature a horror film!) Trying to keep it somewhat on theme, here’s a brief list of all the thriller/thriller horror I’ve watched recently.
Final Destination Collection (2000–2009, HBO Max)
All 5 films are on HBO Max, so Husband and I went through it over a few weekends. They’re terrible, don’t hold up, but every so often, one of them was entertaining, haha!
Unsane (2018, Hulu)
I never got to watch this when it was first released, and it’s been sitting in my watchlist ever since. Finally viewed it on Hulu, and it was okay. I appreciate the behind-the-camera production, but there are far better thriller horrors out there.
Horizon Line (2020, Hulu)
I watched the trailer and immediately added this to our list. I love ridiculous yet based-on-a-true-story thrillers. I also like to imagine that this is a look at Marnie after HBO’s ‘Girls.’ It was a good time.
News of the World (2020, HBO Max)
Now, this is something to write home about (pun intended). A beautifully executed, solid modern Western. Both cinematography and original score are fantastic, as are all the performances. Worth a watch.
Taken (2008, Hulu)
Husband and I were curious to revisit this. Liam Neeson has played this same role in a dozen other films since this original release. Does it hold up? No, not really, but who doesn’t love an origin story?
Promising Young Woman (2020, HBO Max)
I’m torn about this one. I wanted to love it because I adore Carey Mulligan. And she is good but not fantastic in this, and it’s not entirely her fault. It was nowhere near as original or captivating as everyone made it out to be. I enjoyed the off-kilter strings version of Britney Spears’s “Toxic,” even if it was on the nose. But I guess that’s my issue with this; everything felt on the nose rendering it lackluster despite its poppy palette.
Thanks so much for reading (and watching)! What’s your daily skincare routine looking like these days? Do you like watching thrillers? What’s a recent memorable one? Remember, you can always leave a comment or reply directly to this email to chat one-on-one.
As always, I hope you have a great start to your week! See you on October 17.
