067. evanhealy Tinted Oil Serum Foundation, July Films
Swatches of all 17 shades and which films I enjoyed in July
Hi, I’m Maggie, and welcome to Tender Forms Off-Camera: a weekly newsletter on all things slow: beauty, fashion, living. Links in this newsletter may include affiliate links or discount referrals. If you enjoy and would like to support this newsletter, click the button below or shop through my links! No pressure but thank you if you do.
Before we jump in, the brand has updated the spelling of their name to “evanhealy,” one word and lowercase. I’ve been slowly updating all my past evanhealy content to reflect this new branding. If you’re searching the Tender Forms Archive, you’ll find everything listed under “evanhealy” now. Simply click the magnifying glass icon to search!
Update: I am honored to champion this brand! 10% off with code “TENDERFORMS” Subscribe to their Truth Seekers Newsletter too! *This is an affiliate link.
A foundation that has been on my mind for a while is the evanhealy Tinted Oil Serum Foundation. Ever since my two shades reached their 6-month PAO leading to their declutter (Newsletter 059), I’ve missed them for many reasons: the ease of use, the kindness the ingredients show my skin, and their capability as a perfect tinted mixing medium.
evanhealy Tinted Oil Serum Foundation* ($29.95, 1floz | 30ml)
I’m not sure why I don’t see more reviews and raves for this tinted oil serum foundation. I think it’s a crowd-pleaser no matter your skin type, thanks to its deceptively simple ingredient list. It can be sheered out to a whisper or built up to be a light concealer. Of course, these results will vary depending on the state of your skin. If your skin is doing well, this may offer a surprising amount of coverage! If your skin is dealing with a few issues at the moment, it will deliver a great sheer to light general evening of skin tone and hydration, all while looking like skin.
I also think more should know about its extraordinary shade range, within and outside of green beauty. It consists of 17 shades equally dispersed from very fair to deeply rich! The well-known and well-loved Kosas Tinted Face Oil Foundation is close with 16 shades but comes in at $42 for the same amount. Though a few dollars cheaper, the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint has even less with 12 shades. Newcomer Typology’s Tinted Serum is $34.90 in only 6 shades. And of course, Fenty Beauty ($29.50), Tarte ($39), and MAC ($35 for 1.7floz) all have upwards of 30 shades, but their ingredient lists aren’t for me.
When it comes to formula, performance, price, and shades, evanhealy wins for me, so today, I wanted to share swatches of all 17 just so you can see the range for yourself!
Editor’s Note: I didn’t want my own skin tone underneath to skew the hues, so I chose to swatch these on a neutral background. Skin tones are so complex and hold multiple colors, so swatches will always differ across various depths, which is why shades can pull cooler or warmer swatched on different people. You can find the traditional arm swatches across three skin tones on their website here!
If you’re a long-time newsletter subscriber, you know how much I adore the evanhealy tinted oil. I’ve written about it not once, not twice, but six times here (Newsletters 028, 030, 034, 039, 059, 063). But you’ll remember that the finish is too glowy for me without setting it with powder. One of the SPFs I’m currently using is the Earthwise Beauty Farizad’s Veil. Yes, it is not technically rated as sunscreen, but that’s what I use it for, day-to-day indoors during office hours. It is the only sunscreen that delivers the smooth, dry-to-the-touch texture I long for in sunscreens without drying out my skin, causing breakouts, or wreaking havoc. (There will be more to share, coming soon!) Because it’s almost pure non-nano zinc oxide, without suitable mixing mediums, it will likely be drying, cling to dry patches, and have a white cast. Thus, the two make an ideal pairing, bringing out the best in each other.
A few general takes when considering shades:
All shades lean neutral. This was to remove some of the guesswork so that multiple shades could cater to various skin tones.
Shades ending in ‘0’ are for neutral to cool undertones.
Shades ending in ‘5’ are for neutral to warm undertones.
10 very fair skin with neutral to cool undertones
15 very fair skin with neutral to warm undertones (my winter shade)
20 light skin with neutral to cool undertones
25 light skin with neutral to warm undertones (my summer shade)
30 light to medium skin with neutral to cool undertones
35 light to medium skin with neutral to warm undertones
40 medium skin with neutral to cool undertones
45 medium skin with neutral to warm undertones (for custom SPF)
50 tan skin with neutral to cool undertones
55 tan skin with neutral to warm undertones
60 tan to deep skin with neutral to cool undertones
65 tan to deep skin with neutral to warm undertones
70 deep skin with neutral to cool undertones
75 deep skin with neutral to warm undertones
80 very deep skin with neutral to cool undertones
85 very deep skin with neutral to warm undertones
90 richly deep skin with neutral to cool undertones
Having finally seen the entire shade range in person, I am very impressed. Not only are there 17 shades, but it’s an equal step between each. Often brands with an extensive shade range have a cluster of practically the same light or beige tones rather than an equidistant jump up or down.
All come housed in their beautiful frosted glass packaging with a plastic twist-on cap. It’s a slow drip dispenser, meaning simply hold the bottle upside down, and the serum foundation will drop onto your palm. It’s also natural to have separation, so remember to shake well before use! And if you notice some unevenly dispersed pigment on the interior of the bottle, don’t worry! As long as you shake well, the serum foundation itself will be mixed!
*A huge thanks to the evanhealy team for gifting all shades to make this newsletter possible! Not sponsored.
The brand also offers samples for $2.50 each. You may find them in your local Whole Foods Market to swatch in person too. And if not, stay tuned because the Tender Forms Pay It Forward is coming back soon! (You can read all about it in Newsletter 055.) It will be restocked with skincare, makeup, and perfume options sometime in the following few newsletters, so make sure to subscribe to be the first to know and to partake!
Boy, did I watch a lot of films in July. Here are just a few worth sharing.
‘The Tomorrow War’ (Prime Video): I was in shock and awe during this movie because the creature design is spectacular! A fun little apocalyptic alien action flick. The best scene goes to MVP Sam Richardson for his delivery. If you watched it, you’d know. Hint: stairwell.
‘The Map of Tiny Perfect Things’ (Prime Video): This has to be one of the most wholesome teen romance movies out there. Sweet, youthful, excellent family film.
‘Shiva Baby’ (HBO Max): Coming in at a brisk 78 minutes, it’s impressive how claustrophobic and, therefore, time-stretching it’s made to feel. It features great performances all around.
‘Luca’ (Disney+): This is the most wholesome movie of the year (thus far). A genuinely fantastic Disney and Pixar collaboration. Loved the bright, punchy, tropical colors that make you feel like you’re on vacation, grounded by the beautifully told coming-of-age tale. Character arcs are well thought out, and all the comparisons to ‘Call Me By My Name’ are warranted. Excellent. Make sure to watch it.
‘Remember the Titans’ (Disney+): I have definitely seen this film over five times at least. It casts some of my favorite actors of all time in it, has award-winning performances (though it may not have won any of the big ones), and you know I love a good underdog story. It will make you laugh, cry, sing, and dance. FOOTBALL.
And in case you’re curious what the stacked cast looks like now, head here. Spoiler alert: they’re all still good-looking.
‘No Sudden Move’ (HBO Max): Such an enjoyable weekend night film (the time we reserve to watch all the best movies). Another stellar cast from top-billed to cameo. Fun not-too-serious camera-work keeps you on your toes. Cheadle and del Toro are fabulous. Also, enjoyed that every car was a gorgeous classic one. Something is refreshing about its pace too. I lost myself in it and would have gladly done so for more than a few hours.

I totally enjoyed Luca, I watched it in a few sessions as I fed my baby :D
