063. Healing and a Good Old Fashioned List
Chatting recent health issues and a short list of what I’ve been enjoying
Hi, I’m Maggie and welcome to Tender Forms Off-Camera: a weekly newsletter on all things slow: beauty, fashion, living. Links in this newsletter may include affiliate links or discount referrals. If you enjoy and would like to support this newsletter, click the button below or shop through my links! No pressure but thank you if you do.
It’s been a tough couple of weeks. Long story short, I had Pericoronitis for a few weeks then just got my lower wisdom tooth extracted. My body’s also had an adverse reaction to the antibiotics I was on. I tried to write this week’s newsletter; alas, my mind and body say no. Apologies as I take this week off to do some much-needed healing and resting.
As I’m down for the count, I just wanted to share a few things that are keeping my spirits as high:
‘Loki.’ Both Husband and I are very impressed by this series. The set decoration is unparalleled, and the top-billed cast is superb!
This cool cat. A new cat about town! This young cat came trotting up to Husband the other day and has been visiting ever since. Probably because of the free food and cold water he gets. Usually, seeing other cats angers Muto, and he’ll punch the window, but I guess these two have an understanding.
No time like the present to catch up on all my favorite YouTube channels. Below are just two that help keep me calm, engaged, and entertained!
• Alexa Blake. Particularly loving her #monthlymakeupkit series, recent eyeshadow palette week (it was a blast!), and her review on that one Chantecaille item I’ve always wanted.
• Alexandra Anele. My new favorite YouTube channel. I’ve been catching up on her entire catalog, and I learn something new in every video. Her calm energy is a blessing in this time, but her makeup artistry, knowledge, and ability to communicate the basics are outstanding! (She has an ongoing series where she talks about the basics of primer, foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush, etc.).‘One Hundred and One Dalmatians’ (1961). Just rewatched this recently, and it was a delight from start to finish. They just don’t make animated features like this anymore. Loved the pacing, dialogue, and character design. The sophisticated facial language of Pongo, the humorous owner and pet duos, and the celebration and showcase of how each person’s nose is different. What’s not to love?
‘Friends: The Reunion.’ Finally got around to watching this, and as expected, it was equal parts nostalgia and tears. In other words, terrific.
For fans of ‘Ted Lasso,’ if you see this artwork on your Apple TV+ app, know it was design directed by yours truly. (More to come too!)
Same goes for the British comedy ‘Trying.’ (There’s more throughout the app, I just didn’t capture them all.)
This groovy song:
‘Lisey’s Story’ (New episodes Fridays, Apple TV+). This series is freaking amazing. Unfortunately, my free Apple subscription that I was sharing with my mom has run out, so I’m waiting until all the episodes have aired before signing up again. Man, these subscriptions are adding up.
‘No Sudden Move’ (2021). Latest Soderbergh film. Will probably watch it this weekend or next week.
Two sales that I have to give a shoutout to because I love both:
• Earthwise Beauty 25% off either size of ROSA Whole-Fruit Rosehip Oil with code: Rosa25. Today’s the last day!
• evanhealy 20% off cosmetics line. Their Tinted Oil Serum Foundation is my favorite, along with any of their color balms! Full review here. Now through July 19, promo automatically applied at checkout.
Thanks so much for reading though today’s was a short one! Again, apologies if my responses are significantly delayed over this next week or so.
As always, I hope you have a great start to your week! See you next Sunday.
So sorry to read you're not feeling well. Take care of yourself. Regarding your newsletter: Thank you for taking the time and energy to write it; love that there's a new cat in town who doesn't make Muto "punch the window"; adore the 1961 One Hundred and One Dalmatians, which remains one of my favorite films with their delicious Cruella; congratulations on the design direction work for Ted Lasso and Trying, which looks wonderful; love the song Kiss Me More, thank you for introducing me to it; agree about subscriptions adding up, I'm taking time off quite a few to read more, but keeping The Criterion Channel as a favorite. ♥️
